I love my Ukulele

Ok, so it's not actually mine. My roommate is letting me borrow her's in order to learn its basic chords and hopefully a few songs. For those of you who don't know (I didn't until 2 weeks ago), the ukulele is one of the easiest instruments to learn, next to the Dulcimer (which I also have access to and hope to learn soon). So far the C-chord is my favorite, I think it sounds nice. Switching chords lends to be difficult, especially when G is involved. If practice doesn't make perfect, it at least gets ya somewhere better than before.

My first song I have been practicing is Israel Kamakawiwo'ole 'Somewhere over the rainbow/What a Wonderful World.' When first diving into this process, I unintentionally learned the chords for the original version of 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow.' The good news being I now have a more solid idea of how each song differs. The bad news, knowing how to strum the chords for each song is now confused in my mind. I still don't know all of the lyrics and trying to sing and strum at the same time is challenging. Looks like I need more practice.

The next song I want to learn is Ben Gibbard 'You Remind Me Of Home.' I know those lyrics pretty well since the CD in my car hasn't changed for a month and I keep that song on repeat when driving to and from work at The Season. Now I just need to find the uke version of the chords and not guitar. Google is giving me a hard time with this one, but I will persevere. Fingers crossed I accomplish what I'm aiming for!
